The Good News of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Last night I started re-reading Foundations of Christian Faith by Karl Rahner, SJ (my favorite theologian and subject of my MA thesis). In it he talked about how we are all called to give an “account of our hope” (1 Peter 3:15) that is, an intellectually honest justification of our Christian faith. Then this morning I stumbled upon an old post by fellow blogger Father Ben Hawley, SJ. “The Good News of Our Lord Jesus Christ” is a beautiful and succinct message of the Good News. In many ways it does exactly what Rahner writes about in terms of giving an “account of our hope” (the major difference being that Father Ben does it in 15 points and Rahner does it in 470 pages!). This is a post to which I will return again and again. Be sure to check out Father Ben’s recent posts too!

Wow, I really needed that. Thanks!
I’m reading that book too, for my Contemporary Theologians class! We just discussed the sections on Man in the Presence of Absolute Mystery tonight. Fun stuff! My prof (a very muscle-y young man from Nigeria who wears his hair in short dreadlocks) is fond of saying, “Isn’t Rahner beautiful?”
Great! I’m always thrilled to find other Rahner fans. How can you not love the guy?!
Good Sunday to you Sister
I as always, enjoy reading here, and I plan on spending more time on Father Ben Hawley’s blog. Thanks for including here, it helps us to learn more what Gods plan is, and WHO HE IS in our lives.
God Bless
