Susie for President

by Sister Julie on April 24, 2007  J.M.J.A.T.

in blog post, justice, peace, care

Now here is a platform that I could totally stand behind:

“My name is Susie Flynn. I am running for President of the United States of America to help the nine million children who have no health insurance. This is a crisis. These children have been let down, yet the people accountable are doing too little to solve it. By running for President, I intend to make everyone in America aware of the issue so that it will no longer be ignored. Under your next President, every child in America must get the health insurance he or she deserves.”

Through a very clever ad campaign, the Children’s Defense Fund is trying to get across the message that we must do something to take care of our children.

I couldn’t agree more that we must build a society in which the most vulnerable among us is cared for and has the resources they need to flourish as human beings.

I’d highly encourage you to check out Susie’s web site Elect Susie to learn more about what you can do to help out. Susie’s web site has a petition going to get “9 million signatures for the 9 million children without health insurance”. There’s also a MySpace web site for Susie.

The New York Times has an intersting article on Susie’s message — “If You Knew Susie …” (April 17, 2007)
