First Jubilee of “A Nun’s Life”

by Sister Julie on July 10, 2007  J.M.J.A.T.

in a nun's life ministry, blog post

Can you believe that one whole year has passed since I wrote my first post?! And, as of today, there have been over 200,000 visits!

This jubilee gives me pause for reflection and for gratitude. I am so grateful to each one of you for reading, commenting, encouraging, challenging, and questioning. A blog by its nature is not a one-way street (though I certainly have an advantage as the writer! :) ); it is a conversation, an encounter, a place to find and give hospitality to all who visit. I am also grateful for my IHM Sisters whose love and support and presence in my life sustain me. As an IHM Sister, I am at home with God, myself, and my community.

So what’s next? Good question. I have some tinkering around to do with the logistical aspects of the blog. For one thing, my categories drive me crazy so I’d like to revamp them. Also, the “Ask Sister” section is huge and needs to be more manageable for me and for folks reading or asking questions. I did establish a sister blog (so to speak) called AskSister.org to better organize questions so people could find stuff by category or search engine more easily. But I haven’t yet worked out the kinks (and there are kinks).

I’d like to know what your thoughts are — what would you like to see in this blog? are there certain topics or questions or issues or features that you’d like to see or see more of?

Again, thank you for hanging out with me I look forward to what this next year of blogging brings!

Congratulations on your first “blog-iversary”! *grin*

I’m encouraged that you’ve seen where there are problems and are actively trying to correct them for everyone’s benefit.

Gob bless and many more years of successful blogging!

Congratulations Sister Julie, you are a credit to your calling and your church. I hope they apprectiate your ministry work on line.

You ask what we would like to see. I enjoy your posts that explore the deeper questions, and the posts about you, and the posts about religious life. In short all of them, for various reasons.

Thank you for the time and thoughfulness you put into each and every post. I look forward to you hitting the half million mark!

Martha

Congratulations, Sr. Julie, and today I named you a “rockin’ girl blogger” … :-) It’s one of those memes going around, and I think you fit the bill. I love your blog.

Dear Sister Julie
Big congratulations 200,000 views wow. It shows the impact you are having on so many lives, mine included.
I am not sure how much if anything you should change. I would like to learn more about you the individual but the results show what you are doing now is fantastic. It must be so time consuming for you to put forth so much effort every day keeping up with it all.
You are a blessing to all your readers and to the world.
I thank you
Bill

Congrats, Sr Julie! Thanks so much for this blog – it has helped me a lot – and I think it really makes people question their prejudices about nuns. Good job and keep up the good work! :D

I’ve only found your blog in the last few months, and I enjoy this into a world I knew little about. I think it’s great that people from all walks of life and different beliefs “meet” here and share their thoughts. Thank you for creating this safe, blessed space and congratulations on your first year!

Melissa
