Feast of Saint Benedict

by Sister Julie on July 11, 2007  J.M.J.A.T.

in blog post, catholic life and theology

Today we honor Saint Benedict and give thanks for all the women and men who follow the Benedictine way of life.

We believe that God is present everywhere and that the eyes of the Lord behold the good and the bad in every place (cf Prov 15:3). Let us firmly believe this, especially when we take part in the Work of God.
~ Rule of Saint Benedict, Chapter 19

… prayer ought to be short and pure, unless, perhaps it is lengthened by the inspiration of divine grace.
~ Rule of Saint Benedict, Chapter 20

Thank you, Sister Julie, for remembering the feast of St. Benedict and all those who follow the Rule, whether in a vowed community or as Oblates; although in a way, those who live this Rule are all oblates to the Lord.
