I personally loved it. It was so insightful - especially regarding various complicated issues of faith. Long story short, there was this one character on the show. She was an unmarried, ex-nun in her 20s. She was still very religious/spiritual, albeit a bit cynical about organized religion. She still worked in a "typical" (if you can say that) nun field - ministering to the poor. Anyway she wore totally funky punk clothes with a matching short, spikey haircut and shoes that sound sort of like Sr. Julie's, the IHM Sr. Julie :-).Maybe that's the wave of the future! :-) Who knows, some of those pre-Vatican II nuns appeared a bit Goth. Oh, here's a funny story. This one Sister of St. Joseph told me that they used to have to wear this black veil that was kind of pointed in the front. One day she was in an elevator in a department store. A little 4-5 year old black child (probably not too familiar with nuns) gazed at her somewhat puzzled, turned to his mother and said "Look mom, she be a witch." deerose There was this program on last year called “Joan of Arcadia.” I personally loved it. And I find it interesting that the book implies that the the profile of a person constructed from the A choices is less nun-material than the C choices. I think we are understanding more and more that God calls who God calls, wearers of orthopedic shoes (Sister Julie, CSSF :) )and wearers of cleated, carbon-soled road bike shoes (Sister Julie, IHM ... if someone could make a good orthopedic shoe and put a cleat on it for biking, I would so be there!). God is so way more expansive an imaginer than we are. Good quiz --- good food for thought! The choices just didn't fit! Sadly, the polyester skirt and orthopedic shoes fit me to a T. *sigh* Oh, and being opinionated didn't stop me (or any of my other sisters!) from joing up. Fortunately, we had many workshops and classes over the years in interpersonal relationships so we wouldn't skewer each other with out opinions!
