Where in the world is Sister Julie?
After a long car ride from Chicago to Denver (1000+ miles through a veritable Starbucks desert), my friend Carol and I arrived in Denver to see my sister, brother and sister-in-law and to prepare for the triathlon. In less than 24 hours I will have begun the swim portion of the triathlon. I think it is safe to say that I have pre-triathlon jitters. I know that I’m ready for the thing and frankly I’m pretty much done (so done) with the training but now that it is this close, it is pretty awesome. I’ve done a couple workouts — it is fabulous riding in the foothills! — and today am just going to take it easy. Still, all those thoughts of — “Did I train enough?” “What if I get run over in the water?” “What if I wake up that morning and am tired and having an off day?”— run thought my mind. It is really hard to let go of these things and to truly trust that it is all going to be okay. Yeah, I might have an off day or blow a tire or gulp way too much Cherry Creek water. So it goes. It’s been really great preparing for this thing, bonding with my sister and my friend Carol and all those people who have trained with us, supported us, and encouraged us along. I’m also glad to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation and be with people who care about helping others.
So today we’ll head to Bicycle Village in Aurora for the Tri for the Cure Expo at 9 a.m., pick up our packets and meet other triathletes-in-training. Then it’s off for a drive in the mountains. We’re hoping to make it through Boreas Pass which elluded us in the fall due to massive snow (click here for my post detailing that experience). I can’t think of a better way than immersing myself in God’s beautiful creation to prepare body, mind, and spirit for the big day.
It will be a few more days until I have the time to get to emails and blog comments, so hang in there and know that I will be responding in a little while.

Good luck, Sister!! I’m rootin’ for you!!!
God Bless YOU and keep you safe. And may you be as swift at the angels.
Good luck! You’ll be fine!
Go for it, Sr Julie! You will survive and live to tell the tale!
Hi Sister, advice for what it is worth:
*compete only against yourself,
*having preset expectations isn’t a good thing.
*perservere and you will do your best on that day.
*remember the rabbit and the turtle!
best of luck.

Good luck, Sister Julie…I’ll be thinking of you. Gosd bless.
Hey Julie, I saw the race results. Pretty cool. I think you did very well in your bracket. It seems you still can fly high on the bike. Congratulations “one race for Julie and one race for a Cancer Cure!” Thanks for doing this for all of us.

Hi Julie,
I have been reading your blog for the past four to six months and just love it. Your blog has helped me so much, thank you. I even got a book on running, no triathilon. I am so proud of your results, AWESOME, and for a great cause.
