Mother Celine Chludzinska Borzecka — who founded the Sisters of the Resurrection with her daughter Hedwig Borzecka — will be beatified tomorrow at St. John Lateran Basilica in Rome.
According to the Sisters of the Resurrection web site,
“The miracle which qualified Mother Celine for this Beatification was the cure of a life-threatening head trauma to her great, great, great grandson, Andrew Mecherzynski-Wiktor. God performed the miracle, but Mother Celine is the one who interceded. The miracle took place shortly after the whole Congregation prayed a Novena to her for a miracle for Andrew.”
Sixty sisters and lay people from New York and Chicago have traveled to Rome to participate in the Beatification ceremonies and to visit significant Roman sites. Sister Marie Pappas, CR, whom I recently met, will be there. She is fond of saying that the Sisters of the Resurrection is the only religious community founded by a mother and her daughter!
Congratulations Sisters of the Resurrection! Our prayers are with you.

I have fond memories of the Sisters of the Resurrection. They helped me through my very first awkward year of teaching many years ago when I became a teacher in one of their schools in downtown Albany, NY. They were also a part of my discernment process for religious life. While I felt called to another congregation with a different charism, they were nothing but generous and supportive of me. Congratulations and many blessings!
