Mike ... I hadn't even been thinking about the meaning of "adieu" ... thanks for reminding me. It was entirely appropriate!

That very thing happened to me several years ago when we went to visit family in Corpus Christ, TX. Only we were too far from the ocean to return the little creature when he crawled our of his shell. It was sad. Your I think has a happier ending.

You know you and Sister wished your friend "adieu" - had you thought that you were committing your little crab to God's care? (From the French "a Dieu (vous) commant" (I commend you to god))

No wonder God gave you such a gift of stars - St. Francis must have been dancing in Heaven!

What a story. i loved your visit to the beach at night. Brought back many memories of my time at the Jersey shore.
Also thought of the time I used to bring home odd shells and pieces of bark. I remember putting an odd shaped piece of something i found in my jewerly box. It turned out to be piece of a wasps nest, and when I opened the box, out they came. It cured me forever!

Awww! Poor little guy! Good thing his shell got picked up by a couple of nuns. ;) Here's hoping you're having warmer weather back east. It's *cold* out here.
