Heartfelt Words
I’m loving my new blog setup. I’ve added a new widget that allows me to post quotes. Since Saint Teresa of Avila is a spiritual mentor for me, patroness of this blog and my IHM Congregation, and someone whose writings I love to read and reflect on, I’ve started by entering some of her quotes.
As I was typing in this quote, it cut right to my heart ..
Remember:
if you want to make progress
on the path
and ascend to the places
you have longed for,
the important thing
is not to think much
but to love much,
and so to do
whatever
best awakens you to love.
This is my prayer for you, and I ask that you pray it for me and for all those in need.

Awesome quote from such an amazing saint! Just what a novice needed to read, thanks Sister Julie
God Bless!
Not only do I like this quote for me. But I think it’s on par for my 13 yr old daughter who was rejected by two Catholic schools and wants to try again for next year. I’m looking for things that will motivate her and not feel bad.

Where is this quote from please?
Thanks.
The quote is from Saint Teresa of Avila, Interior Castle. I believe it is in the section on the Fourth Mansion, Chapter 1, No. 7.
The translation above comes via the book Saint Teresa of Avila (Devotions, Prayers & Living Wisdom) edited by Mirabai Starr. I used this book to pull a number of the quotes. It’s a fabulous little book that includes wonderful prayers and poems by Teresa as well as some by others “in the spirit of Teresa”.
Check out, for example, the quote in the footer of my blog (no one ever think to look there for interesting stuff!). It comes from that book too.
A wonderful prayer. Not to sound redundant, but it really is wise! Thank you!
