Vocation Forum on A Nun’s Life
A few weeks ago I ran a survey called What would you like to see on ANunsLife.org? Survey (it’s still open if you haven’t taken it yet). The results confirmed my sense that there are many people reading who are discerning religious life or who are just on the tip of considering religious life. There are also many readers who though not considering religious life appreciate the discussions on vocations and religious life because it helps them in their own calling in life.
I’ve been working on ways to be more attuned to vocation questions and concerns and desires and just discovered a plugin that’s an answer to my prayer! (Thank God for all you techies out there — your work is a real ministry because it helps people connect and meet needs. Bless you.)
I now have a page which is called Vocation Forum for those of you who would like to receive support and encouragement as you consider whether God just might be calling you to become a nun or monk, religious sister or brother. It’s also for those of you who are pretty sure religious life is for you but are not yet actively discerning with a religious community. I want to be a support to you and offer you the encouragement and and space you need to listen to what God is calling you to — whatever that ends up being!
On the Vocation Forum page, I noted that I’m not sure what this will develop into — that’s up to the Spirit and those who want to explore their vocation and religious life.
So if you are thinking about (or trying not to think about) becoming a nun or about another way of consecrated life, please click on Vocation Forum — you are most welcome to A Nun’s Life and I’m honored to have the opportunity to connect with you.
P.S. If there are any other kinds of features you’d like to see on A Nun’s Life, let me know!

This is a great idea, Julie. Did you mean to make it a FORUM or Form?
Terry
Terry, Hello! I think of you every day, my friend. It’s funny that you mentioned this. I couldn’t think of a decent name for this and so called it what it is — a form. I accidentally wrote “forum” one time and erased it but it stuck with me even though I thought it’s a form not a forum. Then I saw your comment and it confirmed my sense that maybe it should be forum instead because maybe that’s one possible way people who are discerning might like to connect. Thanks, Terry. Miss you. Love to the nuns.
P.S. I’m going to make that change right now … so those of you reading this may wonder what this is about … “vocation form” was just changed to “vocation forum”
Julie,
Excellent idea!! Funny how our little blogs become vocation tools, isn’t it? I’ve found myself journeying with a few folks who’ve stumbled across my discernment story on my own blog. I haven’t gotten a handle on it yet, but it seems to me that the communication possible through the internet adds a whole new dimension to religious life, particularly cross-community participation!
Peace,
Susan
Thanks, Susan! You and I should definitely chat more about this. I think we serve a vital place in helping folks to possible see themselves in this adventure of religious life. Cheers to you, my friend. Julie
