Star Wars is much more than mere good versus evil. Yes, redemption is key, but so are many universal archetypes such as core images of hero, wisdom, temptation, forgiveness, compassion, conflict, vocation (answering the call or refusing it), adventure. What's not to love? Star Wars was more or less your basic good-vs.-evil morality play, with a bit of redemption thrown in. Now Star<i>Trek</i> hits every theme out there. It was the social conscience of the 60s and continues to be today, tackling issues like prejudice, racial intolerance, workers' rights, etc. The five series responded to current issues, like the Vietnam War, the Potempkin incident, 9/11, AIDS , etc. Oh, I can get so off topic so quickly.
