National Religious Vocation Conference
Today is my final day at the National Religious Vocation Conference Convocation 2008. It has been a privilege to be among so many vocation ministers dedicated to helping people discern God’s call in their life and to passionately promoting religious life. Even though I am not a vocation director, I feel very much at home here among these women and men religious. I too want to promote religious life and help people grow in their relationship with God and others.
In addition to all that very cool stuff, I have to say it has been an absolute blast hanging out with “my peeps”. It’s like being home, being with family, with people who know us and come out of a similar foundation and culture. I also see in these religious echoes of my own hopes and joys and faith. I’d love to share with you some of my experiences over this coming week, to give you a glimpse into this culture and spirit of Catholic religious life. I have some great photos to show you too. You’ll definitely want to check out NUNDAY tomorrow for awesome nun photos!
Oh, and I hope you like this picture. I had to take this photo of the placard at the entrance of Nunn Meeting Room, one of the NRVC meeting rooms at Galt House Hotel and Suites. Louie B. Nunn was Kentucky’s governor from 1967 to 1971. How appropriate to have a Nunn room for a conference on religious life!

Oh that pic is priceless! Glad you’ve had such a great time
Hahahaha. Totally unrelated, but the police officer in Sister Act’s real name is Bill Nunn.
We want more pictures!!! So like, what does one do at Nunfest? I went to Oktoberfest yesterday, but I’m guessing that’s different.
Similar to Oktoberfest — dancing, singing, regalia-wearing, and beverage-swigging! Nah, I’m kidding! Bu as a matter of fact I did go to the Louisville Oktoberfest with my friend Kelly. We passed on the corn-encased-sausage-on-a-stick but rather enjoyed spirits at Louisville Bluegrass Brewing Company where the motto is “beer is food.”
OK, let’s see about more pix …
I too had a wonderful time at the NRVC convocation. I didn’t take any pictures there, but anyone is well come to look at our website for the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary listed below : http://www.ibvm.us.
