		<description>When I taught second grader, the answer to &quot;What is prayer?&quot; was this:  &quot;Prayer is &lt;i&gt;talking AND listening&lt;/i&gt; to God.&quot;  

It reminds me of a lesson I learned from a Native American.  &quot;Visiting&quot; on the reservation means presence, not necessarily words.  A good visit could mean that someone could come into your hogan and visit in silence for 30 minutes before leaving.  

My classmate Mago once told me that when she goes for adoration time, she likens it to sunbathing (Yes, we are California girls!)  No words need be spoken, just meeting the Eucharistic Lord Heart to heart.  She may not get a tan, but the Lord leaves an imprint on her heart that makes her soul glow.

And me?  I keep a running commentary of my day with Jesus,  my Companion.  Sometimes my prayer is as simple as &quot;I hope you know what you&#039;re doing, because &lt;i&gt;I&lt;/i&gt; certainly don&#039;t!&quot;   But I certainly give God lots of chances o respond.  It&#039;s  easier to hear that still, small voice when I&#039;m silent.</description>
