Nun Photo – Sister Susan Rose and her nuns
It’s a chilly Nunday here in Chicago … so cold that even the snow has stopped falling, the nun mobile doesn’t want to start, and Chloe the Convent Cat is buried in my comforter.
It’s is fitting then that today’s Nunday photo feature Catholic nuns embracing the joys of winter. The following photo was submitted by my blogging friend Sister Susan Rose Francois, CSJP, of Musings of a Discerning Woman. Sister Susan writes,
This is a picture of 3 Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace – Sr. Amalia, Sr. Susan (me), and Sr. Suyki. We had a snow day here at our province headquarters, St. Mary-on-the-Lake. We decided to make a snow person in the courtyard outside our dining room windows so that the elderly sisters could see it. We had great fun with our creation – who we christened “Sister Snow.” Inside our sisters cheered us on. One even gave us a standing ovation. We had a great time!

Thanks for posting the picture Julie! That was a happy reminder of the early days of our snow storm. Today I spent the day driving some of our Sisters around since I have an All Wheel Drive vehicle and grew up on the east coast and know how to drive in snow!
I love this picture! Amen to the East Coast School of Driving! My b-day is in January so I first learned how to drive in snow, ice, and other wintry hazards. I grew up in the “snow belt” of upstate NY, that stretch of craziness between Buffalo and Albany! I adore the snow and can’t wait to go home tomorrow to see my family and my native land!
Ah … but in NY, they have these wonderful inventions called snow plows and salt. Here they – honestly – just wait for the snow to melt. Usually this happens in a day or two. This time it’s more like a week or two because it’s unusually cold, except that it keeps snowing. More snow is forecast for tomorrow! Seattle is just NOT prepared!
But on the plus side, I’m here with my wonderful nuns. We’re safe and most days we have power – it’s gone out a few times – and Christmas time is almost here!
Peace to you my bloggy friend.
Merry Christmas !
