Nun Photo – Sisters of the Humility of Mary
Nunday has arrived and today we have not one, but two Catholic sisters from the Congregation of the Humility of Mary, a religious community of women based in Davenport, Iowa. From their website:
Like the woman in the gospel who lights a lamp to search for lost treasure, we seek the will of the Spirit in the signs of the times.
Motivated by compassion and justice, we give ourselves wholeheartedly wherever the needs are greatest.
Sister Marilyn Schierbrock, CHM, standing, is a neighborhood advocacy coordinator in downtown Davenport, Iowa. Here she is helping neighborhood women to establish a community garden.

Sister Cathleen Real, CHM, has been personally trained by Al Gore to provide education on climate change and the threats it poses to humanity and the planet as a whole. From a faith based perspective Sister Cathleen utilizes materials from The Climate Project training, including evidence of temperature increases, the serious consequences of global warming and recommendations for taking action to lessen the impact on the earth.
For other Nunday features, see the A Nun’s Life Facebook photo album. If you’ve got a photo of a real Catholic sister or nun, check out the details on submitting your photo for consideration.

I heard so much about Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” but only came to view it personally days before Earth Hour. I really appreciate what he had done on global warming through the connection at his position.
I wonder how we can be “personally trained by Al Gore to provide education on climate change”. Is there such a training program offered by Al Gore? How about outside USA? I will like to do my little part in promoting awareness on
Climate Change
I was just reading the Lewistown, Montana newspaper. Sister Schuh had written a note about the Bon Ton and the Arrow. It brought back many good memories as she stated. If you would pass this on to her I would appreciate it. Also, I am wondering who is at the Mother house that was in Lewistown from my time. 1942- 54. I know many of my teachers have reaped their rewards for being my teacher. Sr. Mary John, Sr. Gabriel, Sr. Edith, Sr. Rita, Sr. Mary Bernard. etc…Say Hello to Sr. Claudeen, (Lois Pentecost). Thanks, Jim Huber
Hi Jim, Thanks for your comment. I suggest you contact the Humility of Mary sisters directly (I’m from the Immaculate Heart of Mary congregation). Here’s their contact info. Blessings!!
