I'm keying in to The Word; I'm keying into nun of these words : Sister Julie is out to change the face of nun imagery on the web!
For the love of God, NO MORE images of gun-toting nuns, flying nuns or ruler-wielding nuns!

I'm thinking more of nun'ery than nun imagery...
An urgency in messaging is sometimes a part, and I am concidering this a very good article, though still can't believe it is you in the Armor.
I will pick up the magazine again to read.

This blog and the Psychology Today article are quite a statement to me and probably many others. I was taught by I H M in P A and I'll never forget Sr Kathleen Dolores and the positive influence she had on my life. The I H M has changed since then and the charism is gone and has been replaced with the all-too-common in many downsized religous communities with the all too important "I". while this is all fine and good for an individual it has become the demise of what once were thriving orders of women religous. This will be challenged by some and I can only point to the sad reality of the statistics of those who have given up their original rule and those who continue in communities faithful to the Magisterium and their founders.

Sister Julie - congratulations to you - it was a great article and you did a wonderful job portraying the religious life as another very natural and normal state of life where one can find great joy and fulfillment. I noticed in the article that you were getting your masters in theology when you began to decide on the religious life for yourself. I am a also pursuing my masters in pastoral theology at this point and am just beginning to explore what I could do as a lay person with this degree...I am married with 2 children and am making a major career change once I have my degree. I know I want to help others and serve God - and I was hoping either you or your readers could make suggestions about where I can go with this. I felt called to pursue this masters program, even though I put it off for years - and I have been so encouraged and blessed since I began the program - I am so happy that I made the leap - now I just need some help exploring my options - thanks for anything you can suggest and congratulations again on your wonderful article!! Thank you for your blog - it's a great part of my day.

What a wonderful interview! It's informative, unusual look at a moder heroine's journey--the story of someone who had
to make difficult choices that mattered and matters, still.

Perhaps it's as much an iconoclast as you can be, being called
a "nun" these days, but it's reassuring to know that some are
called to it and not intimated by following their call, nor are they ashamed of talking openly about it.

Congratulations! The article looks good in spite of the misspelling of your name. No offense to the gray-haired bunch, but I think it's a positive thing that the article features you, a younger sister, so people don't think all nuns are ancient and that religious life is ready to dissappear within the next 5-10 years. dee

Congrats, Sister Julie. Getting an article about nuns in a secular magazine will reach many more people than in a religious magazine and perhaps open doors for those who are possibly thinking about becoming a nun. It will reach those who have not thought of it and possibly will now, as well. I have been a Catholic writer for thirty years. I was so very excited when my dream came true and I was published by Catholic Digest, even though it was a small 'Open Doors' article. I want to use my talent for Jesus' glory as do you.
God bless, Mary

Wow this is so amazing! It's "Joan of Arc," my favourite saint! I always admired her faith, strength and extraordinary courage, and wished I could be given only an iota of the grace with which God showered her. Armour, sword and shield for the love, peace and compassion of Jesus. I am positively TICKLED!

Congrats, Sister Julie! :-D

Sister Julie
I received my copy of this magazine the day your gift arrived for my daughter Melissa! This was so awesome! I was very impressed with your interview - sent it on to my best buddy Father Gene, a Francescan who is in Chicago. He told me that I certainly get around!
Thanks so much for everything you do! Love and peace, Wendy

"Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground. So stand fast with your loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,
and your feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all (the) flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. " Ephesians 6: 11-17

I couldn' t resist.

Good for you, Sr. Julie! I discovered your blog by reading the article in Catholic Digest. You should get another bunch of new readers now.

NO WAY!!! !! OMG!! How totally awesome. I used to subscribe to that magazine, though it was a little too biology-oriented and not sociology-oriented enough for me. But this is awesome!!!!!! You're getting famous. :P

I think it's totally lame that they mispelled your name. I mean, COME ON. It's not even a remotely unusual name, did they not check before printing? I love how they said "God connects through a new medium", like God is on Twitter on something.

And I'm glad you mentioned coffee. :P Congrats!
