Here are the stories we’ll talk about –

Michelle Jones from “Down Under” is the winner of A Taste of Heaven: A Guide to Food and Drink Made by Monks and Nuns by Madeline Scherb (Tarcher/Penguin, 2009). Michelle submitted her entry for the most compelling nun story: ‘Sooky’ Nun Helps Save Distressed Sailor in the Canberra Times (12/12/2005) about Sister Therese Mills of the Missionaries of God’s Love.

Great work, you two! I hope it reaches beyond those of us who are already “in”!

I have considered becoming a nun for a long time. But would you happen to know if Franciscan nuns are required to cut their hair? Just curious. Cant seem to find anything about that online.
Interesting blog here. Thanks.

Hi, Stacy. The Franciscans that I know are not required to cut their hair. However I do not know if Franciscan Sisters who wear the full habit are required to do so. You’d have to check with each particular community. Blessings.
