It’s Monday
It is Monday, and I’m having a Monday kind of day. Yup, even nuns can get the Monday blues. Can’t think of a word to write, got a million and two things to do, I’m getting over a cold, have bills that need to be paid, and I feel like going back to bed. So I figured I’d see what you all are up to on this Monday. If you’re having a Monday kind of day, feel free to share your pain. If you’ve got some amusing or uplifting words for those of us afflicted by the Monday blues, please share too.

Bah! Me too. The morning was okayish, although I woke up too late to go swimming. I then had laundry, a tiring coffee date with two Protestant friends, and an interesting but exhausting lecture on the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland. The lecture itself means I now have a piece of coursework to write, which is beyond my grasp.
Just one of those days when you go, ‘My brain is too smaaaaall!’
Feeling your blah,
Marigold x
I pray that we don’t end up having a week made up of Monday-like days. Now that would be unpleasant!
Sorry to bring work things into it, but do Loyola Press have a website, or even a distributor for the titles published? I work for eden.co.uk and I know we’ve some of the titles on our site, and it would be helpful to figure out how to order them in if needs be!
I pray we all get a time of calm so that we don’t feel like we’re just running from one thing to the next…

Hi Lou, thanks for the prayers! Yes, Loyola Press has a website and you can order books from them at http://www.loyolapress.com/bookstore.htm or via Amazon.com. Blessings!
Jack and Marigold … sounds like we’re in this together. nap sounds good.
I have so many things to worry about and simply not enough time. I’m going to take a nap.
I feel the same way, though I already took my nap (two hours!! Oh the joys of being homeschooled!!! =) ) My day is still feeling blah though.
I’m glad I’m not the only one with Monday blahs. I’ll be praying for you all.

Totus tuus Maria!
From Sojourners a few days ago: “Defender of the oppressed, help us to value those you value. Help us speak up for those who have no voice, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, take care of the sick, and visit those in prison, recognizing all the while that we are serving you”.
And, just above that prayer, “I do not go to Mass to make myself “better.” I go because, in the dimmest reaches of my scattered, angst-ridden mind, there is something that wants me to get down on my knees and, in spite of my own suffering and all the suffering around me, give thanks. I go because I am beginning to believe that heaven is not in some other world, but shot through the broken world in which we live”.
– Heather King, from her essay “Heaven and Earth”
A sister knocked on my door this morning, sounding like Mary at the wedding at Cana: “The kitchen is dark. The cook is not here.” ACK! The local minister, vicar and councillor are out, and the sister supervising the kitchen staff took said councillor to the airport. I’ve never cooked for more than 12, and there would be 35 hungry mouths soon demanding breakfast! AND it’s the feastday of one of the sisters! Well, the cook and her sous chef called in sick, but no one except the sister driving to the airport and back knew that. I called her and got the 411, started hot water for boiling fresh kielbasa, pulled out the breads for toast and put out an assortment of fruit. When sister driver returned, she started the roasts for dinner (at noon) while I cracked and beat 30 eggs, boiled the sausages and made a decent pot of oatmeal. We even had 5 minutes to spare to wash the pots and pans! The steam tables weren’t turned on in time, but at least they were warm by the time I uncovered the food.
Now I found out that I have to prepare the worship aid for the Secular Franciscans’ Mass with our Archbishop tomorrow night! They are beginning their Chapter of Elections for their national board and expect 200 people at the event. Now I get to call and beg for copyright permission to print the songs. Ah, humility! Ah, Monday!
PS–I remember naps, I think.
PPS–Feel better, Sister Julie!
Wow, you all could use some uplifting and inspiring. I suggest you visit YouTube and type in Ukrainian Sand Artist. You will see a video of the Ukraine’s got talent competition. The artist’s name is Kseniya Simonova and she is depicting the Nazi invasion of Poland in WWII. I know it sounds dreadful, but trust me it is amazing. It will completely blow you away what this woman can do with sand and music. After that, take a nice long bubble bath, snuggle up with a good book (Bible) and a cup of tea and visualize your week going smoothly. After that tell yourself that worrying and stressing and panicking is a waste of time and just allow yourself to do whatever it is you need to do to get the job done. ( This can be done, with a lot of prayer) Courage my friends, the best is yet to come.
Sister Julie, CSSF, next time you’re faced with feeding the masses, I suggest trying loaves and fishes.
It’s actually Tuesday here in NZ but I can relate to the Monday blues – or blahs! I was delivering a day’s training today and all I really felt like doing was snuggling back into my warm bed and going back to sleep – for several hours!
First cure for blahs: hot bath + book + candles and/or bath salts/bath bomb. Second cure for blahs: do something crafty: I found a bead shop in the town I’m currently in and cured my away-from-home blahs by making a rosary. Beautiful, and leads me closer to God. Works for me!
For all you cofffee-drinkers: I heard a trainee refer to coffee last week as “morning juice”. Nice.
the good news? it is now tuesday.
thank God. still suffering consequences of Monday. discovered today that I lost my drivers license yesterday. sigh.
Ugh! Anything we can do to help? Our Lady of Guadalupe’s never let me down.
thanks, friends. found my license! no more lost identity!
an odd story. will write about it soon.
Pray to Theresa Maxis! After all, she did a LOT of traveling, so drivers’ licenses seem right up her alley ….
Whew! Lost as in misplaced! I thought lost as in “the cops took it.”
Jen, heavens no!! LOL!
If I don’t misplace my license twice a day I feel like I lost it for good. I travel a lot and use it all day long. It’s time for a new picture airport security even said so….. It’s almost Friday!!!!
Didn’t I come home after finding my license only to have my wallet slip out of my pocket and get wedged under my car seat. I’m telling you, I am incorrigible with this stuff!
Yes…thank God it is Tuesday. But, tomorrow is Wednesday and I will be left to manage the agency all on my own. My boss is off on vacation for 2 weeks!! EEeeeek. So yes, I”m going to feel like it is Monday every day for the next two weeks and I will be beating 30 eggs and a ton of sausage every day until the boss returns!! Hopefully I will get a nap in here and there, I pray I won’t lose my license during my run arounds, and that there will be something of the agency left by the time my boss gets back!! Ppphhewww!! (Going to go to bed early tonight)
Sister Liza … prayers are with you! You can do it!
lol, i thought what jen thought.
with the license and the wallet, you sound vaguely… like me.
in minimalist mode.
