On the familial level, there is my Aunt Marion, who i met a few times when the family visited her in Canada. To give you an example of the kind of woman she was, in her later years she would check the obituary pages of the newspaper to see if there was anyone who might not have anyone at their funeral and she made it a point to attend so that someone would mourn their passing and celebrate their life.

Spiritually speaking, as a Secular Franciscan, Francis and Clare lead a group of friends which include (in no particular order): St. Joseph, St. Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Mary MacKillop, and Thomas Merton. These six men and woman of faith were also people of great courage, trust and good humor, all of which I still need daily. And they have gladly put up with me over the years...that has to say something!

[...] As read Jesus’ geneology in today’s liturgy one can ask “Why a lengthy genealogy of Jesus? Read Robert P. Maloney, C.M., of the Congregation of the Mission, The Genealogy of Jesus in America Magazine (December 17, 2007).” From the blog Catholic Sisters and Nuns in Today’s World [...]
