What an absolutely adorable photo! rose
The nuns here at the College of St. Benedict| St. John’s University sponsor an annual Earth Day tradition of returning 30 or so large koi fish to the large fish pond near the monastery. The fish spend the summer in tanks in the power plant and are returned to their pond with much pomp and circumstance. There was a lovely parade from the power plant to the fish pond. Children from the elementary school in St. Joe paraded with signs and banners. A student played her trumpet. I offered a prayer (a copy of which is posted at my blog–click my name for details) The power plant folks returned the fish to the pond. It was beautiful. The weather was beautiful.
I was saddened when I read the email from the conservative student group that suggested students forget about Earth Day and, instead, celebrate Industrial Revolution Day…because Earth Day is for liberal hippies. Boo to that!
Peace to you, Sisters (and the rest of you wonderful folks)!
Awww what an amazing photograph – just perfect! Thanks for sharing! x
What an remarkable source of information is in this blog! I’ve spent an interesting afternoon going from one site to another and I haven’t even made a dent. I’ll be researching this blog for a long time. Thank you Sister Julie.
Thank you also, Sister Maxine, for the stunning photograph of the two beautiful babies. Do you have your own darkroom?
I spent Earthday from 6:25 AM until 6:20 PM at LA’s courthouse and traveling by bus, to and fro. Called to report for jury duty on Earthday! Oh the injustice! : =}
