On the road with the NunCam for Morning Meditation

by Sister Maxine on August 25, 2010  J.M.J.A.T.

in blog post, justice, peace, care, prayer

On today’s bike ride meditation, I took a country road and thought about God’s good creation, and how we are part of that. I meditated on the second account of creation in Genesis (Gen 2: 4-17), where God creates the human from the earth. Then God breathes the breath of life into the human.

Breathing is a creative act by God, one that I’m really grateful for as I bike, and as I live for that matter! So for today, I will be especially conscious of how I am God’s breath in the world. I will try to be a stellar representative of the Good Creation all day, in all my words and actions. That’s easier to do sometimes than others. So, if I’m tempted to be impatient waiting in a line somewhere, or to get frustrated if my work projects don’t go as expected, I’ll take a deep breath and remember how it feels to be part of the Good Creation.

Sister Max, I loved the “shadow” riding with you. God’s breath and now a shadow. Hummmmm. Pretty cool.

I heard that a scientist was talking to God and he said, “You know God, we scientists have come a long way and we can actually create life now also.” God replied to the scientist, “Let’s both create life from scratch right now.” So God and the scientist each picked up a handful of clay and each made a living animal. “So,” said the scientist, ” my animal looks just like yours, and I created it”. “Well…
yes and no”, said God. “What?”, sputtered the scientist, “what’s the difference?”.
Smiling, God answered, “You used my clay”.

Glad that you joined me for the ride. BTW, love the God and scientist joke, Julia. :)

Thanks for another lovely bike ride Sister Maxine. Loved the way the sun was shining on the trees, shrubs, fences and … you. As always, I thought of a song. “Me and my Shadow”. Glad you were wearing your helmet.

When I walk outside everyday, I breathe really well without any reminders. But, when I am doing sit-ups or using weights inside, I have to remind myself to keep breathing. What’s up with that? Wow, another song comes to mind … “Just Breath” (Faith Hill ?)

God bless all.
Love,
Kathleen

ps: Julia … loved your story. Thanks for the giggles, which provided more great breathing. :o )
