It is Monday and today we celebrate another NUNDAY! It’s been a while but Nunday is still alive and kicking! I invite you to send in your photos and stories about the nun featured in the photo. For more info check out the details on submitting your photo for consideration.

Today’s Nunday photo is of Sister John Catherine, OP, and Sarah Wooten at All Saints after the Baccalaureate Mass.

Sister John Catherine, OP

Sarah writes …

Sister John Catherine of the Nashville Dominicans taught me senior year of High School. She always taught with great passion and love. Class was always entertaining and special. She helped me regain my faith and God used her to convert me to Catholicism. She would do anything, she could to help a student who was having struggles in their lives. I enjoyed learning about religious vocations from her. She opened my eyes to think of what God wants me to do. Now I have religious life on my mind constantly. She was one of the many Angels God has sent me throughout my life. She has amazing zeal and love for Christ. Anyone who gets to experience her presence are truly blessed. She has many talents but one is playing sports in her habit.

Thanks, Sarah! And blessings to you.

Hi, Sister. What a wonderful website. Strange that I came upon it. I just saw the movie ‘Doubt’ last night (wonderful) and then wound up here. At any rate, I congratulate you on your very informative and approachable site. Perhaps if the internet had been around when I was contemplating a monastic vocation, things might have worked out differently. As it turned out, it was a different sacrament that I ended up taking. But G-d knows best.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to praying the Angelus with you and the Sisters in future.

Blessings,

pete

This is a beautiful picture. I always love to read about the amazingly successful work being done these days by Americorps, Teach for America, NCCC, Vista – all these young people’s movements (with young people as the labor and the leaders…New Orleans!!!!) that are bringing schools and communities back to life. And the picture of Sister John and Sarah’s words say to me that there is every reason to believe that young Religious can have the same creative influence and impact in their worlds. Beautiful picture and story. Jean

Sister John Catherine is a beautiful witness to Christ and His Church. I was fortunate to have met her last year while she was at my school.
