Graduation Day — hurray (and pray)!

Today I graduate from Catholic Theological Union. I’m looking forward to the ceremony, which will be held in a beautiful historical synagogue that’s across the street from President Obama’s house in Hyde Park, close to downtown Chicago.

The students from CTU (ctu.edu) come from all over the world. In the opening procession, each country is represented by a flag. It reminds me of the conversations I had with people from China, Korea, Thailand, South Africa, Ireland, India, and many other places around the globe. The conversations broadened my understanding of God and of the church and deeply enriched my faith.

Blessings and prayers to the graduates of CTU and to all other students who will graduate from high schools and colleges this month!

If there are special graduates in your life, please write their first names in the comment box below. We’ll bring all the names into prayer as a litany on Friday’s “Praying with the Sisters” podcast.

All “my” graduating seniors at Syracuse–and especially to my thesis students and Chadd, who will get both his MA and his JD this month! But–I just have to wish a special congratulations to dear Max, whose thesis is *brilliant*. Wish I could have been there today to celebrate with you; know that I was there in spirit. Well done!
