FUN!raiser Thank You Gift Giveways
The A Nun’s Life Community (folks who read the blog, listen to the podcasts, catch our Tweets, etc.) has pulled together to make this 1st Annual FUN!raiser a wildly fun and successful endeavor. They’ve bought, made, and donated a variety of items to help thank people for their financial support of this ministry that literally reaches to the ends of the earth via the world wide web!

The GRAND PRIZE is a brand-new iPAD2
The iPad is engraved with “aNunsLife.org” on the back and 16GB of glorious space on the inside! The gift was donated anonymously for this FUN!raiser! Details for the iPad2 Giveaway can be found in the Official Rules.
The upshot is that you are entered when you donate or by mailing us a 3.5×5 card, if you are 18 years of age or older, and live in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Also, you must like nuns (okay that’s not part of the “official” rules, but it’s recommended).
We had a variety of other THANK YOU GIVEAWAYS that donors won throughout the fundraiser
A Harvest of Treats Basket by Teresa – Ingredients for Sugar Cookies: sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla, baking powder, butter; Ingredients for Pumpkin Bread: Pumpkin, oil, sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, spices. - “Membership in the A Nun’s Life Community has been a tremendous blessing to me as I discern God’s call for my life. It has been great to go for support and answers to some of my questions. Often I find myself waiting impatiently for it to be time for the podcast.”

WON BY CARYN! Abstract Painting – “The Crucifixion” by Mireille Poirier is an acrylic on canvas board piece in which Christ’s crucifixion is depicted. There are blues, reds, and purple tones interspersed with white. Three eyes are raised to the heavens as Christ hangs his head on the cross. I painted this piece without intention. It was an abstract exercise in colour and blending; it was only after the piece was completed that I saw Christ on the cross and felt that the piece should be called “The Crucifixion”. — I love NL because we help each other to overcome obstacles in our lives and grow in the love and humility of Christ.
WON BY TERESA! Homemade Scarf by Marg – Just in time for winter! Thick’n'cozy hand-knit green ribbed reversible scarf. Ideal for winter wear, inside or outside a coat or jacket. Hand washable or dry clean. Approx. 6 ft. long x 9 in. wide, but the ribbing stretches as needed. Fresh off the needles!

These Hermits are made from an heirloom recipe that has been in Marguerite’s family for many years. To get the recipe, you have to be married into the family! Ingredients: Flour, Molasses, Sugar, Egg, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Raisins, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cloves – “Karol found the Nun’s Life community while looking to see what her friend and fellow alumna Sister Max was up to. Thinking I might be intrigued, too, she invited me to join her in logging on to the podcast. I was immediately hooked by the content, the application of the Web 2.0 technology, and most of all by the obvious love in the community. We’ve participated for about a year now, and the community and the podcasts have added a deeper dimension to our relationship with God and with one another. And we’ve made a bunch of new friends with some great people!”

Watching and praying with them is both spiritually nourishing and immensely entertaining. Srs. Max and Julie are the nucleus to a wonderful community of people who come together–some every night, some when they are able–to pray and converse about God, music, faith, chickens, vocations, potatoes and lots more!”

Handmade Quilt - ”Rainbow of Hope” Quilt by KC Caldwell – a basic block cotton quilt, approximately twin size - “I am a teacher in North Carolina and am currently discerning my vocation towards religious life. I joined the NL community a year or so ago when I heard my first Ask Sister podcast. I loved the candid nature and good fellowship that I saw between the sisters and the online community present in the chatroom. Although a lot of the ministry that occurs at NL is online, this is much more than an virtual community. This is a group of men and women who have become a real life prayer partners, friends, and confidants. I am privileged and honored to be a member of this group.”

I found the community while I was searching for information about whether or not it was possible for [me] become a sister. This community is very supportive, fun, engaging. You can ask any question and you may or may not get the answer you are looking for but an answer will be given. I have learned about my catholic faith, about what it means to be a sister in this day and age. I have found a very supportive community where I can let it all hang when I need to, and I hope I have been able to support others as well. I have found that since joing the community the way I read the word aloud has changed, It is slower with a deeper meaning.”
