Praying with the Sisters

by Sister Julie on August 17, 2009

Join us at 6 p.m. noon Central Time (time zone converter) for Praying with the Sisters, a live broadcast in which Sister Maxine and Sister Julie gather with the community to pray together.

Our prayer follows a similar format each day (Monday through Thursday) and lasts about 10 minutes, a sacred pause in the day.

The music used in our podcast is as follows:

  • “Bits and Pieces” by Wild Carrot in Defined (2001 Falling Mountain Music), www.wildcarrot.net
  • “Blest are They” instrumental by Stephen Petrunak in Catholic Instrumental Classics, Vol. X (2008 GIA Publications)

1. Welcome and Opening Prayer

2. Reading and Quiet Reflection on the Scripture of the Day

Praying with Scripture and the daily readings from the liturgy has a place of honor for us as Catholic sisters and for many people of faith. We’ll begin with the Psalm from today’s liturgy followed by the reading. We’ll take a few moments for quiet reflection after each and then share our prayer requests with one another.

3. Sharing Prayer Requests

We welcome your prayer requests and invite you to go to http://anunslife.org/live during the live broadcast. There you’ll find a chat room where with the Sisters and with other listeners. Share your greetings and prayer requests in the chat room.

4. Closing Prayer and Announcements

Here’s how to join us LIVE.

At 6:00 p.m. visit http://anunslife.org/live. On the right side of the blog under the photo you’ll see a blue box displaying a green button that says “LIVE NOW” (if you don’t see it click on the A Nun’s Life header at the top of the screen to refresh the page). You won’t see the green button until it’s close to the time the podcast starts. You will see a drop-down menu for past episodes.

Click the button to start the audio. It will take a minute or two for the audio to start streaming. If you have trouble with streaming audio, then you can listen by phone. Simply dial 724-444-7444 and enter Call ID number 60385 and then enter the # sign.

After the Podcast

When Praying with the Sisters live broadcast is complete, feel free to visit with the Sisters and others in the chat room. We’ll be there for a little while after each broadcast.

Sr Julie – I just listened to one of the Podcast “Praying with the Sisters”. So very cool. What a great use of technology – a virtual community prayer. Thank you and congrats and keep it up. Jean

Sr.Julie,
Praying the Angelus is wondeful,we did it everyday at noon in grade school.Although I ws taught by the sisters of St. Joseph,I have a very close relationship with our Blesed Mother. She has been there for me in many, many, many, countless times of need. With the beautiful May crowning every year the sisters of St. Joseph taught us about a beautiful lady,Our Blessed Mother. When going through rough times I always ask Mary to help& when times are good I thank her both by praying the Memorare, the most beautiful prayer. Thanks for the reminder of the beautiful Angelus to honor Mary,my hero for life…Sue

Praying with the Sisters is a wonderful way to strengthen my vocation toward the Religious Life, and strengthen my relationship with Jesus and Mary. I am a senior in high school, and school starts September 3rd. I won’t be able to be in the chat room live anymore because I am in school until 2:15 PM. Is there anyway the Sisters could do this a couple hours later? If not, I’ll still be listening to the recording after school. Even if I can’t be in the chat room, my heart and my prayers will be there.

God bless!

Dear Katelin, Thank you. And that is a very good idea. I am in the process of setting a schedule where I or Sister Maxine will be available in the chat room on a semi-regular basis. I will be sure to include a time that is in the evening. Blessings!
