Sister Julie is a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) of Monroe, Michigan. She holds a master’s degree in theology from Regis College, the Jesuit School of Theology at the University of Toronto. Before engaging A Nun’s Life Ministry on a full-time basis, she worked for a number of Catholic organizations, including Loyola Press in Chicago. A professional writer, Sister Julie writes regularly for Global Sisters Report. She also coaches religious communities and other Catholic organizations to better leverage social media to foster a culture of vocation. Sister Julie is an avid biker, Star Wars fan, and technology enthusiast.
Sister Maxine is a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) of Monroe, Michigan. She has master’s degrees in theology and in advertising. Prior to co-founding A Nun’s Life, Sister Maxine had extensive experience in Corporate Communications. Sister Maxine writes regularly for Global Sisters Report. She also trains religious communities and other Catholic organizations to implement social media to advance a culture of vocation. Sister Maxine is an accomplished martial artist, avid biker, and history buff.
Sister Julie is a member of the Sisters of Saint Francis, Sylvania, Ohio, who serves as the Sacristan for her congregation’s chapel. Prior to joining A Nun’s Life Ministry, she served for five years as Congregational Vocation Minister for her Sylvania Franciscan community. During that time, she was a member of the National Religious Vocation Conference and was active in NRVC Region 6. She also served on the Detroit Archdiocesan Vocation Association team and the Toledo Area Vocation Ministers Team. Sister Julie is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and has long served in health care ministry. Sister Julie loves the outdoors and is happiest when she is camping.
Julie and her husband, Byron, are parents to three adult children. Prior to joining A Nun’s Life Ministry, Julie served as Program Director at The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation. She also served as director of a grassroots food pantry and a community leadership initiative. Julie has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University, certification in nonprofit management from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and is currently studying the consequences of privilege and oppression in the graduate Native American Studies program at Montana State University. Julie’s favorite possessions are her hiking boots and she is always dreaming about her next trip to Montana.
Jane is a candidate with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) of Monroe, Michigan. Jane is the creator and facilitator of Discernment Chat, a popular monthly live-chat for individuals discerning God's calling in their life. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Western Michigan University. Prior to joining A Nun’s Life Ministry, Jane dedicated her energies to serving marginalized populations including at-risk youth and the elderly. Jane is a yoga devotee, technology whiz, and keeps the rest of the team hip and relevant by sharing the latest #hashtag trends.
