I had an unexpected phone call yesterday from a producer at CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. At first I thought maybe they were looking for Meredith Vieira, but no, it was for me. On Fridays they do a segment called Assignment America where viewers choose the story that they want CBS news coorespondent Steve Hartman to cover.

Every Friday we present three story pitches and you get to vote for the story you think sounds most interesting. Whichever story gets the most votes by 12 a.m. ET on Sunday is the winner.
(Assignment America)

So the producer asked if I’d like to be one of those potential stories. Sure, I said. So here’s the scoop:

This Friday April 6 on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, viewers will be given a pitch about my story along with two others. It is up to America to go to www.cbsnews.com to vote on the story that they would like Hartman to do and then that story will air the following Friday.

While I prefer to be a behind-the-scenes kinda gal, I am pleased to have an opportunity to talk about what it is like to be a Catholic nun today and the wonderful adventure that is religious life.

So tune into CBS News on Friday (after you’ve observed the holy day, of course). If you’d like to see my story covered, go online to www.cbsnews.com after the broadcast and cast your vote.

And as we say in Chicago, “Vote early and vote often!”
