Monday is NUNDAY! Meet Sister Navya Joseph of the Christu Jothi (Christ the Light) Sisters in India.

As we begin this week honoring nurses, it seems appropriate to celebrate Sister Joan, a Catholic sister who was also a nurse and administrator and dedicated to helping others.

This past weekend, Sister Maxine and I stayed with the Benedictine Women of Madison at Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison, Wisconsin. It was a delight to be with the sisters and with the wonderful community of oblates, retreatants, coworkers, and members of the Sunday assembly. The monastery grounds held so much beauty too — trees, trails, hills, and critters!

Today, we have a local nun from Sylvania, Ohio, right by us in Toledo! Sister Jane Mary Sorosiak, OSF, is a Sister of Saint Francis and an artist. She currently ministers at Alverno Art Studio near Lourdes University. Sister Jane Mary was recently featured in The Eagle, the newspaper of Bryan, Texas, following the installation of her artwork at a local hospital.
