The Secret Life of Bees and Images of Mary

Blog Published: November 14, 2008

I just saw the movie The Secret Life of Bees. I had read the book by Sue Monk Kidd a while back when it first came out. Blog Published: September 8, 2009

September 8th is the feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. It caught me off guard a bit today because I’m used to seeing the feast listed as “the birth of the BVM” not “the birthday of the BVM”.

Blessed are you among women!

Blog Published: December 21, 2009

Today’s Gospel reading is from Luke 1:39-45. It is one of my favorite readings because it is the story of the Visitation, of Mary visiting Elizabeth to share the news that she is pregnant with Jesus.

Waffles with Our Lady

Blog Published: March 25, 2014

Who wouldn't consider waffles a compliment on their feast day?! I think Mary is well pleased. But why waffles on the Annunciation? Inquiring nuns want to know.
