Twitter Nun

By Sister Julie | April 15, 2008

twitterI’ve finally succumbed to Twitter. Yes. It’s true. If you’re not yet initiated into the world of Twitter, Twitter is a free online “service that allows users to send “updates” (or “tweets”; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website … Updates are displayed on the user’s profile page and instantly delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them.” (source)

After playing around with Twitter for a few days, I discovered it was a nice way to see what other people are up to and to write about some of the “little moments” of my daily life. I’m not a twitterholic, so you won’t find an update from me ever two minutes, but I tend to write each weekday. I’ve found some fellow nuns and colleagues on Twitter which is cool.

Come by and visit — Sister Julie on Twitter.

Thanks for educating me about Twitter. I am now a follower.
Hope your hand is better. Didn’t the older President Bush warn you about broccoli?

    Best- David

Cool, eh? Twitter’s kind of fun but it took me a little while to get into it. And yes, the hand is better, though there’s a slight bowl-shaped red mark still. I presumed that in this day and age all cookware would be microwaveable. Not so, my friend, not so.

Wow, never heard of that one before, very cool. I’m partial to facebook myself. As a side note, I am in Washington, DC and the local news is all over the Pope’s visit. I don’t go to Catholic U., but it’s a big deal down here - isn’t it the first time he’s come to the US? Oh well, I’m sure I’ll get stuck in traffic tomorrow due to his visit - they closed down like five major roads!

    Sister Julie-

I am still puzzled by Twitter- I guess there is no way to leave you a message there.

I did notice, however, a thread there about the death penalty and a card to carry to show your opposition. I have such a card. I obtained it years ago from the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

    It reads-

Please be advised that I have signed the Declaration of Life.

Therefore, I hereby declare that should I die as a result of a heinous crime, I request that the person or persons found guilty for my killing not be subject to or put in jeopardy of the death penalty under any circumstances, no matter how heinous the crime or how much I have suffered.

You can obtain one through this site: http://www.signers.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=41

My wife said it gave her a great sense of relief knowing I had executed one! : )

Best of regards, wishes and prayers- always,

    David
