As promised, I took a couple little videos (I don’t have a real video camera, just the one on my digital camera) so that I could share with you some of the profession ceremony of Sister Katherine Collard, IHM.
In this video, Katherine responds to Sister Mary Fran Gilleran, IHM President, who asks Katherine to speak to her desire to become an IHM Sister.
Powerful and beautiful.

She’s a really good speaker, her voice wasn’t even quivering! Did you profess your final vows already Sister? I can’t remember if you told us.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes, I professed final vows in February 2006. It too was a fabulous day!
There is nothing more affirming than a final profession of vows. I know that I was so excited to formalize the commitment I had made long ago to Jesus. I remember when the archbishop put the ring on my finger I was so overwhelmed. But then my tears of joy turned into giggles when I had to encourage him, “Push! It *does* fit.”
I was there to see Sr. Catherine. I hope to be in her shoes some day. It was beautiful to see her family participate in the liturgy and the bag pipes were neat (but a little loud in a cofined space). It seemed a little sad her parents couldn’t be there.
Thank you for posting these videos, Sister Julie. I have not been priveledged to expierence this in real life-I have attended a nun and a priest’s 50th jubilee mass and celebration. It is very interesting to see-different more modern and realistic than some old movie I saw with the women in white bridal gowns and cutting thier hair. I doubt those customs still exist today.
