Ask Sister podcast is a live podcast where you have the opportunity to engage with us and ask questions about nuns, prayer, religious life, or pretty much anything in between!
Here are some of the topics we addressed in this Ask Sister podcast:
- What’s up with the two Anglican Nuns at the Royal Wedding? Is the taller one really a ninja?
- Please explain the filioque and how the trinitarian relationship has implications for our daily life.
- How do ideas about the filioque relate to generosity and kindness?
- What has been your biggest struggle and/or benefit from living in community?
- Living in community, and living community
- Is God really calling me to be a religious sister or could it just be because my brother is a religious brother and I want to follow in his footsteps?

Too late with this for the right blog topic/podcast, but wondered if you’d seen this page – and, if so, what you thought of these nun images: https://www.facebook.com/pages/crazy4nuns/108825449157385
an addendum, perhaps to the community question:
in the chatroom last week, sister sarah foster mentioned the differences in formation in sisters entering when she did and those entering ten years earlier. the earlier group was mostly concerned with ministry and the newer group with community. what does community mean in that sense? i have a nun friend who has never, as long as i’ve known her, lived with other nuns. her convent has been an old farmhouse with no heat, a fema trailer in new orleans, and the orepa (oak ridge environmental peace alliance) peace house in tn, but she has always lived alone. does she still live in community with her presentation sisters?
Hi Sister Max / Sister Julie – I am finally catching up on “Ask Sister”, for I’ve just been slammed w’ work and busy jazz, however I am listening to the 2 podcasts I have missed via iTunes.
I did want to pose 2 questions for you – not sure if it is too late for Ask Sister or whether it can still be added as part of the broadcast.
Today, May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, National Prayer Day, day the President is paying tribute to 9/11 families (after revealing to the world that Bin Laden has been killed), and release of the highly anticipated video from Lady Gaga “Judas”. I just saw it and will post a link to it for you to see it too. There are already a lot of buzz going on because if you watch you and hear her comments, it is basically her take on a modern day depiction of Jesus at around the time he was betrayed by none of than Judas (aka the title of the track). Of course, there will be many mixed reviews of it. I personally have not digested my thoughts on it a 100% yet. I, a practicing Catholic and woman who is still discerning my calling, loves Jesus and reading the scriptures, embracing the community, and yearn to learn more and grow deeper in my faith. I also am a huge fan of Lady Gaga (which I know some do not understand).
My questions are as follows:
1. What are your views/interpretations/thoughts on the latest video?
2. What are your thoughts on those who not only enjoy controversial acts like Lady Gaga and/or different theories like that of the Nostradamus prophecies, yet are practicing and continuing to grow in their spirituality (whether they be Catholic or otherwise)???
As always – your thoughts and insight are greatly appreciated!
Have a great day.

So as an Anglican nun/Episcopal sister myself, I now have to wonder why the ninja training was left out of my novitiate training…
