Why does this sound so familiar???
I found myself really repulsed at her image of women. At how she showed this “holy woman” (which Mary?) being treated. I don’t care for this type of music anyway but I can for sure I would not want my daughters listening to this.
Thanks for writing, Ginger. You bring up a very good point about Lady Gaga’s image of women. I was just saying to Sister Maxine earlier today how in the videos I’ve seen, LG often plays all the lead female roles … no other women present (except the dancers). While I appreciate some of the imagery and social commentary of her art, I have to agree that I can’t say that I’d want younger folks to take to heart some of the messages that are conveyed about images of women. For more mature folks, I do think it can provoke some good questions and reflection — if one is inclined to this kind of expression.
I like many of her songs, but her videos are generally are too much. She is like this generation’s Madonna. (actually with some of the dancing I could not help but think of Thriller
Not sure if this song will grow on me, but she continues to surprise the music world.
Lady Gaga has never been a favorite musician of mine. I feel like she’s catering to a young demographic, and in a very intense and nervous laugh inducing way.
I pity the young girls who see her on television and think she’s what they should emulate.
