A Nun's Life Ministry celebrating their podcast beginnings

The 15th Anniversary festivities continue and this week we begin by shining a light on our podcast program! Sr. Julie Vieira and Sr. Maxine Kollasch, founders of A Nun’s Life Ministry started podcasting in 2009 and were the first to produce podcasts entirely by and about Catholic sisters. A Nun’s Life Ministry remains a leader in the field today.

The very first podcasts were called “Nun News Roundup” and the introduction went like this: “Podcasting live from the convent, this is Nun News Roundup bringing you the latest insights and news on the nun front. I’m Sister Maxine and I’m Sister Julie, and this week….” They began the podcasts by sharing insights and news about the nun world and then continued by responding to listeners' questions. The format has changed a bit over the years, but the spirit with which the podcasts are produced has not!

We took a deep dive to find the very first five podcasts produced by A Nun’s Life. These early ones covered topics such as: what do nuns give up, do most orders only have old people, understanding God’s love, becoming a nun at age 40, and how do you pass through a ‘dark night of the soul’.

We think these “firsts” will inspire you, fill you with hope, and lift your spirits! So pop in your earbuds, hit the play button, and enjoy listening to our beginnings.
