About our Guest

Sister Nancy Roberta Schramm is the Director of Formation in the Mission Office of the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois, where she prepares lay people for short-term mission trips. She began ministry as an OSF sister with two years of teaching, followed by over 30 years of missionary ministry in the Amazon area of Brazil. She returns to Brazil each year and has been to Bolivia, Kenya, and El Salvador. Sister Nancy considers these experiences as “a gift from God as I continue to relate to other cultures and benefit from their gifts.” Sister Nancy has a master's degree in Formative Spirituality.

Sister Joyce Shanabarger, an OSF sister for over 40 years, is General Community Leader for the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart. In addition to congregational leadership, Sister Joyce has ministered as an educator, a pastoral associate in a parish, and a spiritual director. She has also served with an organization that offers retreats and spiritual services to persons who have experienced homelessness and are in addiction recovery. Sister Joyce is on the national board for the Franciscan Federation. She has master’s degrees in Administration and in Christian Spirituality.
