Celibacy is a way of life for Catholic sisters and nuns as well as for religious brothers and monks. But what is celibacy and how does one live celibacy, especially in a society that can be both sex-obsessed and a bit prudish about sex?

God works in so many ways and can call us to a vocation to become a Catholic sister or nun in sometimes the most unexpected ways. Here are a few of those unexpected clues that eventually helped me to come to my nun realization!

The Vatican has just announced an Apostolic Visitation “in order to look into the quality of the life” of women religious in the United States. The announcement was made public in a news conference at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, on January 30.
