"Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me." (Psalm 51:1-2)
Fasting is so much more than giving up meat on Fridays or kicking the chocolate habit. At its core, fasting is a spiritual practice that allows us to empty ourselves of the unnecessary clutter that keeps us from a healthy reverence of self, distracts us from extending kindness to others, and holds us back from deepening relationship with God.
This week we will focus on fasting -- and not just of the food-and-drink variety. Check our Lenten Calendar for ideas of what to fast from each day -- small sacrifices and acts of self-discipline to help us reverence Christ's sacrifice.
Remember to return to this page throughout the week, as we add more resources for you. Together, let us journey through Lent!
