Pop Art as Sacred Art?

When Pope John XXIII threw open the window opening the Church to the modern world, I'm not sure he specifically had pop culture in mind, but why not? ... I started thinking about this after reading an interesting article called "The good books: how church used pop art to guide young"... It's an interesting read with a look at the covers of several pamphlets that pose tantalizing questions related to sexuality, vocation, drinking, and well, more sexuality.

On Christmas Eve, I went to mass with my family in the small town where my mom lives. There was only one mass, at 4:00 p.m.—the children’s mass. It was action-packed, and I had a great time! Throughout mass, children were singing at random, laughing, crying, shouting, and springing up and down. Miraculously, the baby in the pew in front of me slept the entire time.

I was driving home yesterday after visiting my nuns at the Motherhouse and had to do a (legal) U-turn to go back and snap this picture! There's a church with a big sign in front that says, "CHURCH THE WAY IT USED TO BE".
