Human trafficking survivors walk a long and winding road – but with the right support, as Sister Margaret Kruse relates, there is hope for new life.

Margaret Kruse is a sister of St. Francis of Assisi, a community located in St. Francis, Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee. Her community is one of seven women religious congregations, and one Lutheran Church, that collaborated to found Sisters Program South, a Milwaukee drop-in center for women who are trapped in human trafficking. Now serving on the board of Sisters Program South, Sister Margaret has served as a teacher, with United Farm Workers, in pastoral ministry, and in leadership in her community.

Sister Elizabeth Guerrero, a Sister of the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence, lives in San Antonio, Texas, and is the executive director of AHLMA, the Asociacion de Hermanas Latinas Misioneras en America. This organization works with Catholic Sisters from Latin American communities who are ministering in the US, as well as with Latina Catholic Sisters born in Latin America and those born in the United States who are members of US Catholic communities.
