Receiving gifts can be an art, especially when you receive something that is not quite what you wanted or you can’t use or that you just plain don’t like. It’s okay to admit this, folks.
Nunday today features a postulant from the other side of the globe. Well, I don’t know if Sweden is exactly on the other side, but it’s pretty far from Chicago! Soon-to-be-Sister Linda is a postulant with the Brigittine community in Sweden.
Too often people assume that nuns are women who couldn’t “get a guy” or who broke up with someone they thought was “the one” and was left with no alternative. Nuns are also stereotyped as sexually repressed, dowdy women who lack passion and care only about piety, cleanliness and order.
Over the last few days I baked pizzelles — Italian waffle cookies. It’s a tradition on the Italian side of my family specially in the seasons of Advent and Christmas!
