Okay, okay, I admit it: I have a Google Alert set to let me know whenever a new article about a Catholic sister or nun is posted on the Interwebs

In January 2015, Sister Donna was elected the next president of Catholic Charities, USA. With decades of experience and a desire to live the gospel call, Sister Donna is indeed an inspiration!

Today, we have a local nun from Sylvania, Ohio, right by us in Toledo! Sister Jane Mary Sorosiak, OSF, is a Sister of Saint Francis and an artist. She currently ministers at Alverno Art Studio near Lourdes University. Sister Jane Mary was recently featured in The Eagle, the newspaper of Bryan, Texas, following the installation of her artwork at a local hospital. The article "Nun Shares Faith Through Custom Murals" by Jordan Overturf (June 9, 2013) covers the assembly and unveiling of the new ceramic murals and also a bit about the artist herself.

As we begin this week honoring nurses, it seems appropriate to celebrate Sister Joan, a Catholic sister who was also a nurse and administrator and dedicated to helping others.
